ColorPicker is a free and open source, standalone Mac OS X system service that will allow Snow Leopard users to launch the ColorPicker using a predefined hotkey.
Building from source: Double click the included Xcode project and choose Build from the Build menu in Xcode. This will build the ColorPicker application in the "/build/Debug" folder inside the source directory.
